The Story
The DIMENSION story began with a man who had a passion for video games. At 18 years of age, Charles Beaupré, current President of Dimension, found a job as an advisor in a video game store in Sherbrooke, QC. He worked there for a few months before being promoted to manager of a new branch store in Rock Forest, a suburb of Sherbrooke, QC. Thanks to his passion for the video game environment, he quickly created an atmosphere that drew in a sizeable crowd. Charles was very passionate about the business but he quickly realized that he would not be able to carry out his plans due to the methods and cultural differences between himself and his employer.
In 1996, Charles co-founded the business and the DIMENSION concept was born when the first store opened in Sherbrooke, QC. A second store was soon opened in 1997 at the Galeries 4 Saisons mall, also in Sherbrooke. As both stores were quite successful, Charles decided to double his floor space.
Charles really listened to his customers and met their needs by developing a transactional website (www.dimensiongames.com) and a high-performance LINUX-based software to manage his store operations. In 2002, Charles bought all his partner’s shares and he became sole owner of the two DIMENSION stores.
In the fall of 2003 Charles expanded his video game store concept by turning to franchising, allowing future franchisees to benefit from his experience, his tools and his contacts in the industry.
Five years later, in 2008, Martin Tardif became his new business partner. The focus shifted somewhat towards developing the network in terms of tools and points of sales. Dimension developed a new concept called Dimension Express, where video rental store owners and other related businesses were able to add a video game element to their businesses.
In 2010, Dimension JMM acquired the GameBuzz Trademark. The GameBuzz stores now operate under the Franchise contract. In doing this, Dimension JMM became the largest gaming Franchisor in Canada.
In 2011, the Company is planning to open more stores. Three stores are already confirmed. Dimension will officially launch the new version of their website www.dimensiongames.com and www.gamebuzz.ca.
The train is already moving, but there is still time to come aboard!
